TMOP 2020 (Tokyo University of the Arts⇄
Mekong Online Platform 2020)

TMOP 2020 (Tokyo University of the Arts ⇄ Mekong Online Platform 2020) is an online platform for Tokyo University of the Arts to cultivate culture and the arts through interaction with universities of the arts in the Mekong region. Tokyo University of the Arts has developed a network in the region through its experience working with universities of the arts in five countries around the Mekong river (Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar), and with musicians, artists, and professionals in various cultural fields. TMOP features the following four categories:  

• PRACTICE

  Material from the “Online Joint Practices” between Tokyo University of the Arts and partners.

• CONVERSATION

  Conversations with a range of people from the Mekong region, such as columns and interviews with musicians, artists, and filmmakers.

• NETWORK

  Information about Tokyo University of the Arts’ partners.

• ARCHIVE

  Past initiatives and activities undertaken in the Mekong region.

This project is undertaken by Tokyo University of the Arts with support received from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), as an “Inter-University Exchange Project (IUEP)—Promotion of Inter-University Exchange in the ASEAN Region (Type B).” IUEP-ASEAN is an initiative launched by MEXT in 2011 in order to cultivate global talent for participation at the international level, and to strengthen the global capacity of university education. It aims to support study abroad by Japanese students and the strategic intake of foreign students to Japan through international education partnerships with universities in target countries and regions.
